Managed method of distributing software licenses after Irix OS install?
Hi All,
I have enough SGI machines that I am looking into automated OS installs via a SGI server. I've seen the wonders of RoboInst and I think I've seen RoboInst 1.0 ANY_HOST licenses floating around...so I may look into try it out. It can do auto-partitioning and run other scripts which seems better than the manual network method normally offered.
I've read a lot about the process, which sounds simple enough...however all documentation I've found has omitted third-party software installation procedures.
Many packages are normal tardist files...OK I can do that on RoboInst...but what about the license codes? I haven't seen any documentation on pushing client licenses to client-side software during setup. I'm not talking about a network FlexLM server (I don't have those licenses anyway).
I'm asking, outside of the Admin/IT visiting each station and doing it manually, what is the way you were suppose to publish client software and it's client license to each SGI on the network you wanted? Or was this just a huge oversight and there is no way to do this and IT had to visit each machine after setup and manually add text to the license.dat file?
Thanks!
