This seems to be the perfect job for an Indy in this day and age! Smile

In trying to figure out how to get my SEGA Mega Drives running through the Indy, I bought an AV to HDMI converter to see it it would accept the RF output from the Mega Drives, which of cause it didn't! :(

I have run the likes of the N64 and the Saturn through the AV to HDMI converter, and the result was less than impressive, as it stretched the output from these machines to fit a display running at 1920x1080. Running these machines through the Indy is a much better idea, as the output runs in the native resolution for the machine and looks far better as a result! Smile

I will make a video in the future to demonstrate this.

I decided to pull out my Super Nintendo to see how my Indy would handle what I know to be 240p video. I tried this before with an O2 and sadly it didn't work. It didn't occur to me that I might have more success with an Indy.

I highly recommend watching to the third game Smile

Do you have any idea why your system CPU is peaking during playback Irinikus?

The indy that I used for the demonstration is an R4000@200MHz with XZ graphics. The XZ graphics system offloads its texture processing to the CPU, as far as I understand it, hence the high level of CPU activity during video playback. (I asked this question in the past, as the CPU seems to be heavily loaded, even when the system is idol.)

I also think that I might be running a heavier version of IRIX than you are.

The disk in the machine has an IRIX setup on it that was setup by Doug Mashek, If I did a clean install of a more appropriate version of IRIX, I'm sure it would run better.

What type of machine are you running? An R4000 or R5000?

Wow, if that's the case the XL is taking a lot of load off the CPU. For comparison, mine is an R4400/150MHz.

I'm running 6.5.22, with frankly a lot of junk installed (I'm planning to clean it out a bit).

Here's the answer that I got from dexter1 concerning this: http://forums.irixnet.org/thread-481.htm...ight=quake

My indy R5000 is fitted with XL graphics.

I had certainly heard of thisĀ  before, I just didn't expect that it would make such a significant difference. Do you find the video passthrough to be choppier on the XZ system?

I haven't tried it on the R5000 yet.

This video shows the playback through the R4000 with XZ graphics, and it really doesn't lag, even though the CPU is loaded:
