Calling all Tezro owners! Top panel pictures/measurements needed!
Hey, folks,

I'm sending out a request to any Tezro owners who would be able to take some pictures (ideally in high resolution) of the plastic top panels of their systems, along with some accurate measurements. My own Tezro is missing its panel, so I've decided to try to fabricate a new one. I can work my way around in Fusion3D half-decently, and I'd like to try to create and 3D print a prototype replacement. If it goes well, I'd eventually like to do the rest of the panels. If it goes really, really well, I'd then move on to other SGI systems.

Of course, the finalized files would be made available to the community and shared for modification and improvement. I'm no expert in this type of thing, but I should be able to rig up something serviceable with some time and effort. More experienced people could always take it from there.

What I'm looking for is as follows:

* Pictures of the top, bottom, and each side (from head-on) of the panel.
* Measurements of the overall length, width, and depth of the panel. For the depth, this includes at the center of the panel and at the top of each of the raised bumps.
* Measurements of any lips or insets on the panel from the maximum exterior plastic.
* Any appropriate measurements of supports where the top panel screws into the metal case.

The more data I can get, the better. Hurray for larger sample sizes. Smile

Thank you in advance!

Great idea!

I'm still after some measurements of an O2 R10k Riser tray to make my own. If you can't buy it, make it! Wink

I have one of those! Smile What measurements are you looking for?

This is going to be pretty tricky with trying to find the right radius and center point for the round parts to make it all fit and look right. I don't have all the right measuring tools to properly measure it (would rather do it in CM or MM) but this is what got in Inches with a good ruler. This is just approximate but it is a start. just a heads up i could not get the measurements for the Lips where the other pieces overlap. They where to hard to measure with what I have. Let me know if there is anything I missed that you might want measured. https://imgur.com/a/mrFdFqg

That's awesome, thank you so much! I'll definitely have to play around with the model a lot to get things right. I'll print sections as prototypes and make adjustments as necessary.

Obviously the best way to do this would be with laser triangulation technology, I personally do not own one big enough to scan a Tezro but I will check if there's a vendor in my area that will scan mine for me, although generally speaking these vendors won't scan anything that's patented or copyrighted without first securing permission from the patent or copyright holder. And no doubt trying to get anyone at what's left of SGI to respond to a request for such a permission is going to be fruitless...

That would work very well. If we could get the resources to scan the panels, it would certainly save a lot of time and effort.

For initial purposes, I'm okay working with a reasonable facsimile and refining it over time. If it fits and looks the part, that does the job for my own interests.

What about photogrommetry? An ex colleague uses high res photos to reconstruct houses in 3d then prints them to scale (much reduced scale that is, about A5 paper size)

Kaigen - measurements of the metal tray is what I'm after and some multiple angle detailed photos if possible. Wink height, width, beadth, any lips, upstands and indents etc.

RE: Calling all Tezro owners! Top panel pictures/measurements needed!
After way, way too long of not touching this project, I've made a good bit of progress.  I have a tentative prototype of a Tezro top cover created in Fusion 360, although I know that it has a couple of current issues. First of all, the top clips that attach to the side panels aren't exactly the right shape. I'm planning to print a small slice of the model to see if the clips are good enough or if I need to modify them. Second, the spacing of the "ribs" on the bottom of the panel aren't yet accurate. I also need to add the cross extensions that fit into the holes on the top of the Tezro chassis to provide more support.

Still, it's a good amount of progress, and I'm pretty pleased with it. Once I get my test prints taken care of and issues addressed, I should be able to manufacture a complete panel on my Creality CR-10 S5. We'll see how that goes! Smile

If anyone is able, I could use additional close-up pictures and dimensions of those tiny top clips on the panel. The pictures and measurements that sjo1997 provided were fantastic, but I need even more detail on this one piece. Also, measurements of the distances between each of the bottom ribs would make life easier. I can make some pretty good guesses based upon the top chassis, but I'd like it to be as close as possible.

Anyway... pictures!

That looks very good!

Do you have access to a powder-type 3D printer?

I really wouldn’t recommend using a filament type for this kind of job, especially if you want it to have a good finish.
