It's been several days since what happened in this thread:
https://forums.irixnet.org/thread-1360.html
To recap, I fell into deep despair due to what I felt was a sudden and complete schism of the community over what I saw as absolutely senseless reasons.
I was ready to hang up the hobby for good. I was, truly, in a very dark place.
I am, however, happy to say that feeling passed. I made several, crucial decisions to refocus things:
1. I transferred the discord to Dodoid, and allowed him to remake it. After that, I disavowed it. As of right now, the IRC and Discord for IRIX Network are now defunct. They are unlikely to return in a new form anytime soon. I will not share the link here, if you want it, PM Dodoid or Larbob for a link. I would ask that you do not promote it or other chats here, without prior written permission from me.
2. I have decided to reassert my position and fight for what I have made here. I will turn this website, in the following key areas, into the absolute best resource for all IRIX-capable SGI hardware:
• Documentation, from hardware and software
• Discussion
• Marketplace. Some of the concepts that were discussed last year, I may try to resurrect it at some point in my own projects.
• Usability, SEO and Features. I believe this is possible.
3. I've removed donation systems for right now. I am making enough money to make these things happen; and I feel it's necessary to regain the trust and confidence I had with my userbase before I ask for any money from any of you. You all deserve the best, and I've obviously fallen short in some areas.
4. I'd like to emphasize that while I do plan to downsize my collection, I am going to remain as part of the hobby. But you aren't gonna see me revving at full power immediately. I'll be behind the scenes, making this place better and better until we're at a point I'm satisfied.
Thank you, everyone, for the words of encouragement, best wishes, etc. Let's continue to be the best we can be, how does that sound?
