Let's Talk Money/Donations
I've had a few people ask why I cut off donations. It has been for a few reasons. At the time I was:

Employed and making good money.
And I believed with some of the issues that were ongoing, some of which were partially due to myself, I should foot the bills for a while.

Situations have changed, and I have decided with my recent efforts to modernize our infrastructure and websites, it should be a topic open for discussion.

Do you wish for a return of the Patreon?

Do you think the efforts here are worth asking for donations?

Do you have specific goals or changes in mind that you would like to see happen with your money?

I'm interested to hear.

RE: Let's Talk Money/Donations
I'm always happy to donate a bit here and there. For what I expect, well a reliable forum and a nice repository for files are my two biggest wants. Some bits of collected documentation, wiki etc. are also nice to have. Ultimately though, keeping this place running is the priority.

Do you think that the site has lived up to the expectations you outlined? If not, please state examples for my records. I am aware the forum has some bugs ans shortcomings, a lot of it has been down to waiting on MyBB 1.9 - I don't want to invest a considerable amount of money into developer expenses until we have ourselves a new shiny codebase that's going to get years of support.

RE: Let's Talk Money/Donations
I'm with Trippy - stable forum, some form of wiki for documentation and store for old file archives / collection (whether these are commercial or not doesn't really matter). But one thing I miss is a gallery section. Call me old school but I really liked the archive of images on NC. I know they take up a lot of space but I'm sure there exists some form of automatic resize for uploads?

But yes, donating here and there as funds allow is not a problem as I see it.

And I think the site has lived up to expectations, hell when NC died I thought it had all gone poof in anycase, Irixnet was a welcome new home.

Image hosting is a future feature planned, but the script Nekochan used is very old and there's not a lot of good scripts out there that scale down for our use-case. The closest one, used by yande.re requires ruby, passenger, node.js and a million different things.

RE: Let's Talk Money/Donations
Generally I have been happy. I think you've done a great job so far with this place, and the hosting so far of bits and pieces has been very appreciated. I suppose when I say I expect a reliable forum and file repository, it's basically a case of "more of the same". Do agree with JS that some image hosting of SGI-related stuff in due course would also be useful as and when a suitable solution presents itself. Either way, I'm happy to donate a bit to the ongoing running costs - I did the same with Nekochan back in the day.
