IRIX 6.5 and MIDI
I've got an Indigo2 and a Mac MIDI interface.

How can i configure the second serial port to function for MIDI, and what midi utilities should I find under IRIX 6.5?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks !

There is a list of commercial and IRIX bundled utilities in the link below.

Fellow forum member kubatyszko is a moderator of this list so maybe see if he can help if nobody else can?

forgot the link! https://www.reddit.com/r/IRIX/wiki/audio..._midisynth

RE: IRIX 6.5 and MIDI
Well, for anyone else who might be interested in this, the utilities are not installed by default.

According to Scott Porter, April, 23, 1996:

Software MIDI synthesis is bundled into the IRIX 6.2 "dmedia_eoe" software.
The version of "soundplayer" that is shipped with 6.2 in
"dmedia_eoe.sw.tools" is capable of playing standard MIDI files
using either the built-in s/w synthesis engine or an external MIDI sound
module.

"dmedia_eoe.sw.synth" contains the SGI software MIDI synthesizer engine
itself along with a graphical control panel ("synthpanel") and a graphical
MIDI keyboard ("midikeys").

"dmedia_eoe.data.synth" contains a full set of General MIDI samples and
synth presets so that you can play back General MIDI files using the
software MIDI synthesizer.

"dmedia_eoe.data.music" contains a collection of original General MIDI demo
tunes created for SGI. You can play 'em back using soundplayer.

Note that the last 3 subsystems are not installed by default, so you
need to explicitly select them for installation.
