Ready to rock! Loving the Octane!
Hey guys,

Got my Octane back home after a crazy long trip to London and back! Was really nice to meet Herman, he is happy that an enthusiast has bought this machine from him. I'm really happy to be here, looking forward to lots of fun projects with this baby!

Firstly I decided to give the keyboard a full strip down and clean:

Here she is in all her glory! So happy with the condition, hardly a mark, almost no dust, beautiful Smile

The VGA converter Herman provided works great with my Dell u2410 (I do have the original monitor stored from the sale for preservation, but in daily use I will use the LCD) And yes that is an Atari TT 030 workstation on the desk, my other passion.

Was very easy to get connected to the net, thankfully Herman put Mozilla on already Smile

Now the fun begins. I will start learning the OS, testing apps, setting up NFS etc. If I have any issues I will search this forum and nekochan archives, then I will ask if I can't find solutions. Thanks guys.

There is a 1920x1200 vfo file floating around in one of the recent threads or an MXI/MXE, it should provide use of your display's full resolution.

Yep, see my post history for working MGRAS 1920x1200 Fikes and instructions. Happy to help get them working if you run into any trouble.

RE: Ready to rock! Loving the Octane!
Thanks guys! By the way.. I'm a bit ashamed but I *am* installing the obligatory Quake 1 for a bit of fun. I installed the latest from nekoware/current and then extracted the id1 folder into usr/nekoware/games/quake etc. Quake seems to be loading (gets the flashy mouse cursor animation etc) for about 5 seconds then stops and nothing happens, it just stays on the desktop. Any ideas? Cheers.

Is it neko_quake you've installed?

If you've installed neko_quake, look in the nekoware bin folder for the following file: "darkpalces-sdl", and copy it into the quake folder. This is the correct executable for the game and will allow you to run the game at 1920x1080 in GL-mode.

Yes neko_quake - I followed your instructions exactly but the same result. I have a feeling that I might be missing SDL dependencies? I know many programs I try to install cry and ask me to install lots of SDL programs.

Thanks callahan, I downloaded the latest vfs and sdb. You state where to put the vfs but there is no info about what to do with an sdb. When putting the vfs inside the correct folder (I had to create vof/2RSS as they weren't there) display properties does not add the resolution. Any thoughts? Thanks.

"cd" into the quake directory in the console and once you're in the quake directory type: "./darkplaces-sdl", this will show up any dependencies that there may be.

Hi! So for mgras cards (Impact series) it's actually the .sdb file that matters. Place that in the /usr/gfx/ucode/MGRAS/vof/2RSS/ folder and it should appear in the display manager after restarting the app (no need to restart the machine until you apply the settings).

Edit: Also, you should most definitely not/not have to create the 2RSS directory. Maybe double check the path?
