First try booting with the IRIX 6.2 CHD that Dexter provided earlier in this thread, and see if it gets to the desktop. I've used that just fine in 0.212. If you really want 5.3 then try using an earlier version of MAME or compile from the latest sources on GitHub to see if that fixes your issue.

Finally got around to trying the chd that I was sent. Sadly, it doesn't work and I don't have the time to mess with it to see what I did wrong. Maybe someone else is better off hosting it. I don't mind if someone else is linked here, as long as it's not a certain taboo site I won't name here.

Hi Raion,

Sorry to hear it didn’t work. I ran it with MAME 214 the other day and it ran much better than in 212. The command line I used was identical to what I posted in this thread a couple of weeks ago.

Could you please try 214 and let me know if you need a hand with that?

It appears the file is corrupt. I'm guessing with my slow internet it got corrupted somehow.

Just throwing an idea out here for that CHD file... maybe we could just start a torrent for it so that the burden of hosting it isn't all on Raion's shoulders. The community could just seed it and the links could be kept in a torrents section somewhere. If there's ever legal issues (probably won't be considering all the other software hosted here) just remove the links and that burden is offloaded to everyone seeding, not Raion and the website. This would make the file a lot more resilient against being lost as well.
