If you're running through a decent switch, it should mean no impact on other devices. Switches can handle different connection speeds concurrently.

My Indigo2 has been upgraded to 100Mb Ethernet, however my Fuel, PC and NUC (all connected through the same switch) continue to function at Gigabit speeds.

Indigo2 R10000/IMPACT  R10000 195MHz, 384MB RAM, MaxIMPACT (1MB), 36GB 15k & 300GB 10k drives, new/quiet fans, 100Mb G160 NIC, IRIX 6.5.22&
