Eh..ok. after some time working with it, yes it works but yeah, gettext, fontconfig, liftiff, curl. all those new packages wrecked my nekoware install. Guessing about 30% of my packages don't work anymore or are complaining about incompatible libraries.

I think probably creating a net new distribution hierarchy and copying those packages over that are needed to build new major releases is probably in better than trying to shoehorn stuff into a 20 year old distribution set that isn't maintained anymore. BUT Nekoware is a very relevant distribution I think it should be maintained as it is/was.

I've been away from my Octane for some 10 years so shame on me for just throwing packages at my install, but maybe README with warning would be useful for those of us who aren't' developers or up on the current status of IRIX community contributions.
