I did one repair on the locking mechanism on our dishwasher. The part was ridiculously expensive ($48 for a pastic part) but they have you over a barrel, and it was an easy repair. The brand was Kitchen Aid, so we went with another new Kitchen Aid with 2 top loading trays, optional to remove one of those for different loading. I hope the new one lasts 20 years. I may last about that long too, lol.
