RE: Latest purchase?
Bad tools should be banned from the universe.
If I ever had kids, as soon as they turn of age, I will give them a proper set of tools and teach them how to care for them. It saves so much irritation and frustration to get a decent set of tools. It's also more ecological - they last longer (or forever). You save money, because you will hate your old tools and end up paying twice (or more) when you buy the ones you should have got to begin with.
Good keyboard - less typing errors. More ecological (my model M is almost 40 years old and used daily).
Good soldering iron - waaaay less frustration, especially when you are trying to learn.
A good printer - less paper jamming, less waste, postscript so you can print from any computer (I'd rather waste trees than my eyes).
A good monitor - buy once, use for a decade or more. I am rocking a ZR30w for ages, it calibrates fine, no need to go 4K.
Good set of screwdrivers - especially when you are dealing with super soft and sandy IKEA screws.
Good drill, especially a stable one that won't wobble.
Good computers, well, you guys know.
I live alone and abroad for almost 14 years now and I am finally getting to the point where I have all the tools I want to get my hands dirty in short notice.
