Working as I do on high voltage power systems I've been fascinated with insulator technology for decades, I'm subscribed to the IEEE journal "Transactions on Dielectrics," amazing stuff in there in every edition.

If I remember correctly from a discussion we’ve had in the past, you're an applied physicist working for BAE Systems and you’re involved in large projectile weapon research and development. Does this by any chance include railgun research? (If so, super cool! 😎 )

You are correct on all points, if you look at any of the Navy's railgun pictures you can see our BAE Systems logo featured prominently in almost all of them, we built five of the railgun power modules and I can tell you in all honesty that putting those beasts together was truly a case of sacrificing the body for the job. And yes I also participate in the builds for both the 5-inch and 6-inch smart round versions, the 5-inch being intended to fire from the Navy's conventional propellant MK 45 gun, which we also build.
