Latest purchase?
RE: Latest purchase?
Hi Irinikus, Jan-Jaap and others,

my lastest purchase was tall (39U) SGI Origin 3200 hour glass rack to put my O350 stuff into.

I have now pulled out/off all the shelfs / sliders / doors / panels / plastics with aim of fully disassembling the rack so I can move to basement.
Here is picture of bare rack:

In pulling the rack apart I have found that the main structural frame is POP riveted together. So posting picture of example to see if anyone has any tips on exact specs of rivets, as I am going to drill these out with view to replace with bolts. Here is picture of rivets (front/back):

Thank in advance for any tips.

EDIT #1: For those interested, the rack is definitely all riveted together (no welding) and can be disassembled for moving and flat pack shipping... through it would still be over 200KG. Here it is fully disassembled:

EDIT #2: I have now bolted the rack back together using 1/4" x 1/2" long UNF Socket Head Stainless Steel bolts and locking nuts. This covers the majority of joined sections, but there are still some closed steel sections in the corners that you cannot get nut in. So need to decide to either leave these, drill out access holes to put the nut on or re-rivet.

There are around 20 holes of approximately 120 total that you cannot access.

Here are picture of bolted sections, rack is now nice and rigid and fully bolted main central beam. Doing the bolting is not easy as some section have extremely limited and tight acess. It took me 3 afternoons to bolt the entire rack back together (structural part). I have yet to put the panels and doors back on.

Middle section example:

The nuts in a nice easy section at the back:

Unbolted corner section... I will likely rivet this as I have the Huck rivets and have ordered a manual long lever rivet tool (Far RT-33):
