RE: For Sale: 2xIndigo 2, O2 and misc stuff
Not to derail, but device manufacturers, Intel, and Microsoft have done everything they can do throw out old Windows software (removal started around 2013, I think). I recently wanted to load W2K Pro on an old laptop (that supports it) to use a Adaptec Slim SCSI adapter to test out a bunch of external SCSI devices on both Linux and Windows (back when it's was supported). Man what a fight, drivers gone, windows updates/service packs gone, online services gone, browsers gone. Now yeah, lots of groups have tried to save the old updates and such. So I just barely got everything humming along great, including WPA 802.11b/g! But reloading a system older than XP now...it's software archaeology. For some reason I find it easier to track down sites with DOS/Win3.11 executables than info for Windows 9x, ME, 2k! I don't understand why this hole is there and if it wasn't for archive.org I'd be missing like 2 big drivers!

I fully support someone gathering a Windows OS load (maybe even an Image) for the SGI Windows stations. Lord knows MS has done everything they can to erase the 90's and early 2000's from all MS properties. The machines are useless without them so I'd consider it a needed, if you own one of these. But yeah the PCs have a following, shame the bigger and fast models look like ordinary PCs and the first couple look unique. Hell even the Fuel looks like a better PC case (and of course it is) then the PC's do. Just odd. I know SGI for design and wow factor, so who decided the PCs didn't need a wow factor?
