Octane mxe with digital video and 2nd se gfx
Based on sgi’s documentation, I recall reading that if you have a digital video option board installed that they say you should not install a SE gfx card for dual head.  I’m not sure if this is due to cooling, but my question is, why can I not install an SE card with a coexisting digital video board if I’m not planning on using or connecting to the DV board.  One option is to remove it and store it, but I rather ‘store’ it in the machine to risk not damaging it.  I’m always afraid inadvertently damaging the board by taking it out and storing it.

Question is, can I safely run an additional SE board along with digital video but not use digital video?

RE: Octane mxe with digital video and 2nd se gfx
The sgi octane digital video installation guide only states that the digital video with dual head is not an sgi supported configuration. The personal video option board has no mention of dual head. The article I read that suggests you cannot install a digital video board is located here https://hardware.majix.org/computers/sgi.octane/

I wonder if the configuration is not supported because it was. It tested or may yield more heat. I don’t know how much more heat the digital video board gives off versus the personal video board.

I do have the personal video board which as a last result, I can remove the digital board and install the personal board as it still has video in/out at full SD uncompressed resolution. I do have the Miranda adaptor that I can used for CCIR-601 video via the camera port.

Which Miranda adapter do you have? Last part of my setup that I need, I was looking at some other conversion boxes that support multiple formats.

The Miranda VIVO is the unit for the O2 camera port, also used on the Personal Video board.

Additionally, there was also the Ensemble Designs "Carbon" breakout box which brings analogue component video I/O capabilities to the O2. I have one of those. While the Miranda Vivo SDI dongle works with the Octane PVO as well, I seem to recall the Ensemble unit doesn't.
