The problem with image attachments
I attached an image to the post. Browser (neither Chrome nor IE nor Firefox) cannot interpret and display the attachment. You can see it here: http://forums.irix.cc/attachment.php?aid=425 .

I figured out what is wrong. Files (original) I add and file I can see are not the same. The content of the file (after upload) is shifted by 142 bytes (sequence od 0x0D and 0x0A - new line characters) and the last 142 bytes of the files are truncated. Both files have the same size.

Begining of the oroginal file (jpeg image):

I'm curious if You can replicate this. Just and image as an attachment to the post and then download it and compare. I hope You find this useful.

RE: The problem with image attachments
I make use of imgur to post images and it seems to work fine.

This site however doesn't automatically scale images which are hosted externally, so it's necessary to post images that have the following dimensions or less: 1024x768.

This problem is with all attachments (zip files also). Please look at post http://forums.irix.cc/thread-353.html This problem is not connected with browser but with the way attachments are processed by the server. Please check how attachments are saved on server (if they are OK or corrupted).

I worry that without fixing it any attachment will be corrupted (I hope that there is problem with reading attachments from server only and files are OK on the server).

P.S. My image was 800x600, but now we know that size of an image is not the reason.

imgur is a site used to host images, so that they can be posted on forums such as this one by copying the link to the file hosted there.

I know for a fact that Raion-Fox doesn't want .zip files posted on this site.

Im sure that they will fix the problem concerning the uploading of attachments to their server in due course.

I would however suggest that you make use of a site such as imgur to host your images.

RE: The problem with image attachments
I'll have to keep working on this, thanks for posting the bug.

I encourage everyone to use an external file/image host for the time being.

I'm the system admin of this site. Private security technician, licensed locksmith, hack of a c developer and vintage computer enthusiast.
