Thanks If I am not mistaken I could use this also on a SS20, right? Do you also happen to know the location , on the motherboard, and the type of the PROM chip that we need to program with this file? Thank you !

The Boot PROM chip is directly next to the NVRAM chip. It's a 27C040 UV-erasable EPROM so you'll need an EPROM eraser or other strong source of UV light to blank the chip before you can reprogram it, and a programmer that can generate enough voltage to actually program the chip (the 27C040 requires 16v). I'm not sure if this PROM would also work on the SS20 but I'd guess not. I do have both an SS10 and SS20 though so I could give it a shot and see what happens.

The chip is physically the same in the SS10 and SS20. The PROM image from Sun (v2.25) is NOT the same, but different. However, there is a combined PROM image from Ross (v2.25R). It's the same image for the SS10 and SS20. Technically, you only need the 2.25R for the latest generation Colorado 4 HyperSPARCs (166MHz and up I think...). The older HyperSPARCs (150MHz and lower) will work with the 2.25 from Sun. Fun fact: fast HyperSPARCs will benefit from the slightly faster Mbus on the SS20 vs. SS10 (50 vs. 40MHz).
