I have noticed that there seem to be two different versions of the FSN file navigator. The one I would like to run looks like this: 

But the one I run on my Octane looks like this: (no vector icons on top)


Is there any way to run the first version on a newer version of IRIX, like 6.5?

Are you sure the file versions are different and there isn't simply an option to tick under "Display"? Don't have my SGIs on at the moment to check...

The FSN is old app and some of its functionalities seems to not work on more modern IRIXes (the top image is from my Indigo R3k with the IRIX 5.3). You have probably the same bionary as I have (from the old ftp.sgi.com), I think.

The FSN is old app and some of its functionalities seems to not work on more modern IRIXes (the top image is from my Indigo R3k with the IRIX 5.3). You have probably the same bionary as I have (from the old ftp.sgi.com), I think.

I do have the same binary as you   It looks like the binary is only for older MIPS processors and not for newer sgis. Its too bad the latest version of FSN doesn't seem to work quite as well as the previous versions
