Node board serial numbers?

Node board serial numbers?
Im having serious problems trying to get Flame 2008 SP6 installed on my Tezro, with a Node-lock flexlm that's valid for my machine's lmhostid.

Because I've upgraded my Tezro (twice in fact, as it was originally a dual 700MHz machine), is it possible that the problem could be, because the node board's serial number doesn't correspond with that of the rest of the machine? (I still have the original dual 700Mhz and the quad 700MHz node boards as spares.)

How would I determine my system's node board serial number?

Is it at all possible to update it to correspond to that of the rest of the machine?

It is as I suspected!!!!!!:

What you see is correct.

Here is one of my Tezros

Code:
<i>
</i>001c01-L1>serial all
Data                            Location      Value
------------------------------  ------------  --------
Local System Serial Number      NVRAM         P1000534
Reference System Serial Number  NVRAM         P1000534
Local Brick Serial Number       EEPROM        NAM668
Reference Brick Serial Number   NVRAM         NAM668

Cool! at least that question's answered! (our node board and system serials no's are quite close!)

Re: Node board serial numbers?
Hi Irinikus,

to get discreet applications (IFFS) up and running there are three possibilities:
1. Generate license key based on serial of your machine
2. Change machine serial to match license key
3. Use an "ANY-HOST" license key

Changing the serial of Chimera based machines is pretty easy, simply clear the serial via L1 "serial clear" and then use either L3 (linux) sw or L2 controller to reset the desired serial.

There are restrictions with serials based on whether machine is configured as workstation (Tezro) or server (O350). Again there are L1 command to flip across these.

I have working Flame/Smoke Tezro disk with license /usr/local/flexlm/licenses/DL_license.dat , but I have pulled all the boards / disks out of Tezro and they are all now in O350 machine (officially this is now what Discreet would see as Onyx and therefore Inferno set up rather than Flame set up).

I cannot flip serial on this setup to Tezro as this will disable Numalink router based configuration I am now using. So only option is 1 for my set up.

For your setup you have both options available. I can provide alternate serial to you if you are interested in trying option 2.

The flexlm always uses L1 based serial as returned via lmhostid.

Interestingly on my 5 node set up the lmhostid returns string of 5 serials (all the same) and provides instruction to only use one of these as input to license.

NOTE: as part of keeping SGI/IRIX sw available I have the L3/L2 Linux software available for posting/hosting.

Cheers

Re: Node board serial numbers?
This does look like an option in the future maybe, If I get my hands on another Tezro, that is.

It would be good if you could post the Linux L2, L3 software on this site's FTP!

I've just set this machine up nicely, and really don't want to have to start all over again! (Maya's keeping me rather busy and satisfied for the moment, but I really do want to mess around with Flame in the future though!)

I'm still holding out for a keygen for Flame 2008, as I was able to license Maya 6.5 and ProEngineer by making use of keygen's to create the relevant flexlm's for my machine.

General cracks don't seem to work on my machine!
