RE: octane demos 1.3 on vpro?
If you use 'inst' (command line only) or 'swmgr' (to launch the GUI) from a shell prompt, you can add an '-m GFXBOARD=MGRAS' option to trick them into thinking you have the "Mardi Gras" graphics. See their man pages for more info.
Note that you'll want to be sure to install only the demos that way. Accidentally re-installing any of the system software could over-write the VPro drivers and libraries with their Mardi Gras equivalents, so be very careful. Also note that there's no guarantee the demos will run correctly on anything but Mardi Gras hardware. (In other words: don't blame me if things go wrong!)
SGI: Indigo, Indigo2, Octane, Origin 300
Sun: SPARCstation 20 (x4), Ultra 2, Blade 2500, T5240
HP: 9000/380, 425e, C8000
Digital: DECstation 5000/125, PWS 600au
