Hi,

I've got a strange problem with Lightwave 5.6 (on Irix 6.5.26f).
Lightwave Layout refuses to start-up but Lightwave Modeler starts and works perfectly.

When I try to start-up Lightwave Layout from Lightwave Modeler, I've got the message :

Could not activate Layout application //usr/lightwave/Bin/LW

When I check the console, I've got this message :

X Error or failed request: BadGC (invalid GC parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 56 (X_ChangeGC)
Resource id in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 577
Current serial number in output stream: 2021

I try to complety uninstall Lightwave and reinstall it with exactly the same result : Modeler works perfectly but Layout don't.

Note : pathes to LW look to be right in .cshrc and .profile

I've decide to install LW5.0 and it work perfectly, but it's not has great as LW5.6 (and I can't start it from the Icon Catalog, I have to go to usr/lightwave5.0/bin)  


After 3 days trying to find an answer, I ask help to the community.

Hi,

The "magic" of Christmas hits me … let me explain.

I've done my tests in ROOT account but I didn't try it in my user account.
So let's go to my user account and open LW5.6 Layout in it and … it works !?
I go back to ROOT acount and I open LW5.6 Layout and … it works too !!!
I check the console and there's no more error message.

OK ! Now LW 5.6 works perfectly without any logical explanation.
