getting started
i would like to get a shot at it,
now that my 6.5.30 system works Smile
a new 73 GB hdd is on the way to give my octane a bit more space to work with Wink

compiling old games and getting them to work on irix sounds like a great adventure!
i have experience in pascal (a long time ago) and nowadays i use delphi.
my current project in delphi is a database for my employer which is holding the history
of the last 70 years of the business (people with data and photos, videos, old records,
photos, all documents of old conventions etc. etc.) it's holding more than 50 GB of data
at the moment and you can search everything, add edit and delete stuff.

i also try out stuff in unity (all playable / alpha state) developing a wingsuit simulator,
a ship simulator (with VR support) and a multiplayer space taxi clone (VR)

the first obstacle is getting the dev system installed (i don't have all cds and can't find them on the net)
i downloaded the doc "How to Install MIPSpro 7.4 Compilers as a Module in IRIX 6.5.X
which states u need : (812-0757-004), (812-0924-002), (812-0766-002/3), (812-0759-002) + Language CD
in my case c and c++ (i think i need them) (812-0707-004) and (812-0400-010)
i'm missing Compiler Execution Environment 7.4 CD (812-0924-002)
i also have the cd MIPSpro All-Compiler CD May 1999 for IRIX 6.5 and later.
this cd is not mentioned in the instructions...
can anybody help me out?

RE: getting started
You can download the files from many places, including us.irisware.net. Installing over a lan is pretty easy.

Probably the most plug and play option is to use booterizer, which will set up a VM and host all of the mipspro and Dev foundations CDs (in addition to foundation and overlays). You can then install them using inst just as you would during a fresh OS install.
