TIP: For all of you with inpompatible monitors, or monitors getting confused by SOG
Got myself an O2 a few weeks ago, and the picture on my monitor was wery green an colors in general did not display correctly.
Some nice people here pointed out that the monitor does not like the sync-on-green signal that the o2 outputs.

So i bought some various sync-splitters to try out.
The idea of a sync-splitter is to take the SOG-signal and convert it into a standard H/V-sync that most monitors use. As someone said, the o2 is allready outputting hv-sync but it also outputs sog and it is the SOG-signal that messes up the monitors color calibration.

Unfortunatly, the sync splitters does not remove the SOG-signal from the green signal line so the monitor is just as confused as it was without the splitters.

But as a gift from above i discovered the Extron DVS VGA-scaler.
Theese support just about any analog signal (composite, s-video, component  via bnc-connectors and rgb, rgsb, rgbs and rgbhv via a hd-15 connector) and outputs it correctly to the monitor. They can also output any of the above in any resolution. Wide range of supported resolutions.
Theese are professional units that cost a lot back in the day, just as the SGI's.
You can buy them dirt cheap from ebay since they are now very outdated but for this purpouses they are more than good enough anyway.

I bough mine for 30usd, whilest the small sync-splitter (that did not work) cost significantly more.

TLDR; If you have an unsupported monitor, buy a Extron DVS for next  to nothing on ebay.

And as an added bonus, i can now connect my nintendo64 to my monitor

Did you try the Extron 112xi?
I have one here somewhere, scored brand new on eBay for ~ $25. There's also the 109xi which is VGA rather than 13W3.

This happened to me completely by accident as this pin got pushed in accidentally. This cable now interfaces my O2 perfectly with my monitor, which gets "confused" when a normal cable is used.
