Better than recycling...
Re-use ! Here is an HP Kayak XA-s, with dual Pentium II 400 Mhz, 512 MB, Voodoo 3 3000 which I added a Gigabit network card, a three SATA channels card and two Barracuda 2TB drives to make a low cost NAS under Windows 2000 Pro.

Works like a charm over samba.

Sorry nothing to do with unix machines  Tongue

Nice one, I like(d) the design of those HP machines (before they sacked Compaq IIC) back then.

I once had - maybe the predecessor - a Kayak XU 6 with two 333 MHz Deschutes and i440LX and two even older Vectra XU 6'es with dual Pentium Pro and i450KX. Both with the same case design but with different colors and with some of the largest motherboards I've seen until back then.

Still regret to have let them go some years ago.
