Monitor not liking V12 in Fuel
Hi!

I just got my ”new” Fuel, but I can’t seem to get it to work with the monitor I intended to use with it. The monitor in question is a aluminium 23” Apple Cinema Display with a native resuolution of 1920x1200.

The monitors power light just flashes in sequences of tree blinks when it’s connected to the Fuel.
It works just fine connected to my Mac Pro, so there’s nothing wrong with the monitor.

The Fuel outputs video just fine when I connect it to my 17” EIZO monitor.

Is there any way to get the Cinema Display working with the Fuel?

Sounds as if the Fuel is trying to output a resolution/refresh rate that isn't supported. Do you get any picture at the PROM even?

It’s working like it should when connected to the EIZO. Even changed the resolution to 1024x768@60hz just
to be safe. Still no output when I use the Cinema Display instead of the EIZO.

Does the V12 use sync-on-green over DVI giving me this issue?

I still have this issue. The Apple monitor not liking the Fuel at all. Could it be my DCD giving this issues?
I did a really stupid move as well. Set the resolution to 1920x1200 as boot up resolution and now I don't get any picture on the Eizo either (for obvious reasons). Is there any key combo to press at boot to give me back some stock resolution?

You don't need Sync-on-green when using DVI-D. The problem is that the default 1920x1200 resolutions have either traditional CRT blanking which result in a pixel clock which is too high for DVI or a reduced blanking one which doesn't seem to work on a few modern LCD's

You need to create your own display configuration. For more detail check: https://forums.irix.cc/thread-1049.html

To change the default boot resolution you need to boot in single user mode and execute:

Code:
# /usr/gfx/setmon 1280x1024_60

RE: Monitor not liking V12 in Fuel
Yesterday everning I started the Fuel and just went to check on my oldest son for a bit. When I came back to the desk the Apple Cinema Display showed the IRIX login screen, so it must be just the boot sequence that has some strange frequency going on. Or could it be that the machine is configured to ouput the boot messages to the serial port?

At least now I can use it as intended. Still, it would be nice to be able to see the whole boot sequence as well.
