RE: Tutorials/Books for learning versions of software on irix
Are there any good books for C/C++ programming on IRIX from the 90's? Using MIPSPro?
Or maybe the 'Definitive Guides to the X Window System' series is good enough ?

I think a good one to start with would be "advanced programming in the unix environment", perhaps the 1st (1992) or 2nd (2005) editions for MIPSpro, I'm not sure. you can find the source code for the books here: http://www.apuebook.com/

I personally bought the hardcovers of the 1st and 2nd editions, they were like $7 on ebay

This appears to be the 2nd edition http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/dow...1&type=pdf
I think this is the 3rd edition pdf here http://www.codeman.net/wp-content/upload...UE-3rd.pdf

Another good book is "The C Programming Language" 2nd Edition covering ANSI C by Brian W. Kernighan and Dennis M. Ritchie.
https://www.dipmat.univpm.it/~demeio/pub...uage_2.pdf

also while we are at it, "The Practice of Programming'' by Brian W. Kernighan and Rob Pike 1999.
