Hi,

I really would like to try install Flame on my Octane (R12K 1x400 / 2Go Ram / V8 / 6.5.26 /Wacom Intuos 100% working). Except the fact installing this software looks difficult ; I'm not sure my computer could works well with the latest SGI version of this software …

If I well understand :
Flint = small projet / light workstation (a kind of Flame Light)
Flame = big project / big workstation setup (the "fx,compo,mograph" swissknife)
Inferno = "forget it little boy … your Octane is not an Onyx !"  

What about the other ?
Fire = video editing / timeline ?
Smoke = video editing / after effects like ?
Spark = plug-ins ?

According to you, what could be the honnestest combo for my Octane ?

flame and smoke will work fine. I'm not sure about the V8, but if it can do 1920x1200 res double buffered you should be good for the 2008 versions

My display properties are : DX 1280x1024 (Frame Buffer Depth = X16 / Accumulation Buffer Type = Hardware/24bits)
I use with a perfect *.vfo for my Philips 190X6 (no traditionnal V8 flicker fx) : Maya 6.5, Photoshop, Illustrator, Shake 3.5, djv 0.81 and (g)mplayer works perfectly …

Actually, I know just one thing about VPro : it seems to bo impossible to run Adobe Premiere

I can't find any PDF tech manual about Discreet softwares … If someone has got somes, I would happy to read it [^_^!]

I don't know why I didn't uncompress *.tar files before … [-_-!]
After read several PDF, I didn't find any comments about SGI workstation recommanded technical specs …
Now, I have to read carefully ALL the processes to install these softwares and its features.
