how to share folders between Windows and IRIX?

Do you have networking set up on the IRIX machine? can you at least ping the windows system?

If not, see https://software.majix.org/irix/network-setup.shtml for setting up networking on the IRIX system. Try it out and report back with your findings.

I'm in a similar boat, I can connect to my samba share from my Mac just fine, but Sharity won't have a thing to do with it on either of my Irix machines.

No longer active. Please do not contact me.

Sharity is probably SMB v1 which is considered fatally flawed. It is possible to re-enable it on current Windows versions but I think it requires registry hacking and is discouraged. You could try to connect to a Windows 2000 or XP system from Sharity.

The Mac speaks SMB v2.

My experience when connecting to SMB shares from non-windows clients has always been erratic at best. I know they disabled v1 due to security reasons but they also messed with some other features in v2 and v3 about the same time which caused further problems in non-windows clients. Shares which previously could be accessed with no password now require full username/login, connecting using a computer name now requires connecting to an IP address instead, and a long list of issues. These are just off the top of my head from running a Kodi box with a library stored on a SMB share. There are bound to be many others. I guess if all your computers are Windows based you are in the clear, you are otherwise bound to run into issues.

It works as 'freeware' with one connection and share.

I managed to send files via Windows FTP to IRIX but I do not know how to upload files to FTP from IRIX

Is there any software or commands to upload files for FTP from IRIX?

you should have a ftp server running on irix by default. Use something like filezilla, connect to your irix ftp from windows, and you should be able to send/get files using filezilla no problem. Key point though - simple ftp treats text files and binary files different, you need to specify under "Transfer -> Transfer Type" if its a text file or binary file. don't trust "auto"

Can you give filezilla a try, try to connect to your irix ftp using filezilla and let us know how that goes

ok, I don't think I understand, also can you use something other than dropbpx like imgur or mediafire.

did you download filezilla? put in your SGI's IP as the ftp host and your username and password and you should be in

you can also go into a windows powershell and type "ftp <your SGI IP>"
