For what it is worth, OpenCascade is the 3D modelling framework of reference being used by a bunch of software packages and I would imagine a major dependency. Salome, the frontend and pre/post processor bundled with code_aster (edf's finite element analysis software) is one of them, but there are quite a few others. It is probably going to be a tough nut to crack but if you manage to do it you are opening up so many other possibilities.
