flat panel adaptor in O2+? no signal?
Hi, is there any tricks to getting the flat adaptor to give a signal to the 1600SW?

i just plugged it in, connected up the 1600sw, but i am not getting any picture?

the O2 sound plays, but the power indicator/on/off switch on the 1600sw flashes orange..

any hints guys?

There shouldn't be any extra drivers required to use the FPA as long as you're running above IRIX 6.5.2 on your O2. It should be pretty much plug-and-play.

The first thing I'd do is make sure that the system can see the adapter itself. Connect the O2 to a normal monitor, run hinv, and see if '1600SW Flat Panel adapter board and display' is among its hardware output. If it isn't, I'd take out the card and riser and re-seat them both in their sockets.

The official manual for the FPA may also be a handy reference in the future.

This sounds promising.. I just plugged it in, no harddrive in the O2 and was expecting to see the O2 screen with the tune on the flat panel... Hmm. So it might not be rooted then? Glad to hear it..  I just don't have a frikkin VGA monitor available... :(

You should get to the PROM screen without a hard drive plugged in, mine does.

No longer active. Please do not contact me.

so if you plug a screen into the vga port and turn on the o2 - first the screen should go active but be black, then you should hear the boot jingle, led goes green and the PROM screen should become visible.

I've had problems in the past that the screen turned a strange color or some strange pattern would come on the screen, then I would hear the jingle, led would go green, then nothing. This was usually solved by reseating or replacing the CPU. Hopefully that is not your issue.

FWIW I've never been able to get the VGA port on my O2 to work, in fact it's the reason I finally got I a 1600 SW, which worked like a charm the first time I plugged it in. Not sure if it's just a dead port or some other issue, but it's interesting to hear you have the opposite problem. Also, my O2 won't boot up without having a keyboard and mouse plugged in for what that's worth.

PS: do you know for a fact that the 1600 SW works?
