Hi all,
I've been reading up on InPerson and SGImeeting after watching this great video on YouTube,
https://youtu.be/0u8Fb8l9Xr4?si=aZ2wL2sO67T0DLyV
What I'd like to do is get a working 1:1 InPerson or SGImeeting video call going between me and a friend across the internet.
Hopefully somebody here went through all the migraine phases before me and has some pointers on my first/initial questions before I start wasting evenings and nights on this...
- Is SGImeeting a more recent version of InPerson or a completely different software suite all together? Any pointers on documentation for it? I found a disk image with the software on archive.org, but that's all really.
- Is the InPerson 2.1 (and PeoplePages) software available anywhere? I've only managed to find 2.0.
- Is PeoplePages needed if you're just going to do 1:1 video calls?
- I've read some fun stuff on the multicast setup of PeoplePages and the RTP streams of InPerson. If I wanted to route this over the internet I'd need to setup tunnels to do so. If I understand correctly 1:1 only needs unicast... is there GRE tunnel support in IRIX? If not I'd need to do it externally using a VPN box or maybe mess around with OpenSSL for a tunnel setup...
- Does anybody have any experience when InPerson and the Indycam/O2cam was cool tech on running this on a campus LAN or WAN?
Any insights appreciated!
