I have a specimen of just about every generation of MIPS/IRIX systems. I'm not interested in the newer IA64 or x86 systems, and sadly I never could get an M68K IRIS. Most are maxed out in terms of CPUs, memory and graphics. They often have interesting options like video options, FDDI, PCI cages etc etc. Here's the list:
Workstations:
- Personal IRIS 4D/35 : 36MHz R3000 / 128MB / Turbo graphics / VideoFramer + breakout
- IRIS Indigo R3000 : 33MHz R3000 / 96MB / Elan graphics / Chyron Centaur video. Originates from the Dutch "Maarten Toonder" studios
- IRIS Indigo R4400 : 150MHz R4400 / 384MB / Elan graphics / FDDI network. Came from NASA.
- Indy : 200MHz R4400 / 256MB / XZ graphics
- Indy : 180MHz R5000 / 256MB / 24 bit graphics / FDDI network
- Indigo2 : 250MHz R4400 / 384MB / Extreme graphics / FDDI network
- Power Indigo2 : 75MHz R8000 / 768MB / XZ graphics / FDDI network
- Indigo2 IMPACT 10000 : 195MHz R10K / 1024MB / MaxImpact + TRAM / Phobos G160
- Octane : 2x 400MHz R12K / 2048MB / MXE / Digital Video / dual FC, Gbit, U160 SCSI, Discreet FC disk box
- Octane2 : 2x 600MHz R14K / 4096MB / V12 + DCD / DM2 + VBOB / dual FC, Gbit, dual U160 SCSI
- O2 : 400MHz R12K / 1024MB / AV + Ensemble Carbon breakout (SDI + analogue video I/O)
- O2+ : 350MHz RM7000 / 1024MB (purple) / 1600SW (blue)
- Fuel : 500MHz R14K / 1024MB / V10 (prototype system, blue skins)
- Fuel : 600MHz R14K / 4096MB / V12 / dual FC, Gbit, dual U160 SCSI, M-Audio
- Tezro : 4x 1GHz R16K / 8192MB / V12 + DCD / the whole Discreet DMediaPro setup w./ breakout, tablet, Lucid audio and FC arrays.
Big(ger) Iron:- Professional IRIS 4D/70 : 8MHz R2000 (I think) / 8MB / GT graphics. Sadly currently inoperable.
- PowerSeries 4D/380 VGX : 8x 33MHz R3000 / 256MB / VGX / FDDI network / VideoLab w. breakout and SDI adapters / IPI-2 disk (Sabre V 2HP). Came from a German Fraunhofer institute.
- PowerSeries 4D/440 VGX : 4x 40MHz R3000 / 256MB / VGX / FDDI network / Broadcast Video Option
- Crimson : 150MHz R4400 / 256MB / RealityEngine / FDDI network. I need to replace the PSU (I have one).
- Challenge S : 200MHz R4400 / 256MB / FDDI network
- Challenge L : 12x 195MHz R10K / 2048MB / HIO64 dual FDDI network
- Onyx : 4x 195MHz R10K / 2048MB / InfiniteReality / HIO64 FC (Prisa), FDDI network. Needs a new RM6.
- Origin 200 : 2x 270MHz R12K / 2048MB / dual FC, dual Gbit, FDDI network. Probably the last on the planet with intact skins ;)
- Onyx2 : 4x 500MHz R14K / 8192MB / InfiniteReality3 + HD-GVO (DG5-TVO) / DM2 + VBOB / dual FC, dual Gbit
- Origin 350 : 8x 700MHz R16K / 16384MB / 4TB SATA / FC, dual Gbit, L2
Misc:- Personal IRIS 4D/20 (E-module only)
- A full set of CPU boards and system disks to run the Challenge L with 6x 90MHz R8000 or 12x 250MHz R4400 instead of the R10Ks
- TP9100v2 FC array
- Tons of spare parts
- Spare complete systems for many of the above
- A cupboard full of manuals
- A crate with QIC cartridge tapes
- A couple of hundred CDs
- Misc promo goodies incl. an Indycase, an inflatable O2, VHS tapes etc etc.
There's often other hardware around that I sell later on or maybe keep. Right now there's a purple Indigo2 with 250MHz R4400 and SolidImpact sitting under my desk that came up in the neighborhood for a price I couldn't resist. It's a pretty decent IRIX 5.3 system and I currently use it for a project I work on every now and then.
