Git Site Down -- Details inside
Gitea and irixce infrastructure was taken offline by our host with ZERO notice or access provided. I will get it back hopefully else I will be forced to rebuild it. The more troubling thing is that we've got a bigger issue in that my wikidev site was taken offline with it. Ultimately, nothing major was lost but I'll be working with my host to recover the data.

Unfortunately the result of not backing anything directly up has left me in a strange situation. We will not be restoring anything directly because I was not satisfied with the prior setup and the host neglected back anything up properly.

So let me outline the current plans:

1. Rebuild the wiki development site. This time I'm simply going to port the content and images over and fast track the migration off of the old Wiki content. It should not prove to be terribly difficult and I think within a 60 days I can manage that.

2. Finding a new git instance. All of the important repositories are locally stored on my system or on other developers systems. We will be forced to recreate them but that is a minor inconvenience. I'm not exactly sure I'm going to start with gitea again

3. irixce.org was lost. As it was all basic HTML and hand built nothing of serious value was lost that can't be rebuilt within a couple of hours of work.

I want to reassure everyone that the forums and silicon image are not subject to this problem. They have been receiving regular backups I just neglected it on this one outlier because I was busy with migrating off of FreeBSD.

A little update for everybody.

I have restored the server and I'm starting to set it up so that I can begin rebuilding with cgit. I went through a couple of different iterations of theory on how I'm going to handle this this is what I came up with.

Expect repositories to be back online within the next week or two although some repositories are going to take longer. The other change from this is going to be that we are going to post releases on the IRIX contrib site. I'm going to discuss with some of the other staff on the best way to do this and basically anybody who signs up for git will be invited to and given contrib access with the goal of making it simple for people to share their packages and such.

The wiki will probably not be until after Christmas unless I end up having a lot of down time which is entirely possible. I will make sure that things are restored in a timely fashion

Progress --

This weekend I rolled my own OpenSMTPD solution for email on less-mission critical systems (and in the future I may reuse this for IRIXNet email in general if I'm happy with it!). Still working through it.

What remains? Set up cgit, see if it works, if it's not what I want then we'll go back to gitea... Annoyed

Then wiki setup, rebuild the theme I had setup (easy to do, took me two days) and go from there.

I'm still trying to figure out how to set up a git site that is effective for our use case

In the meantime I'm also working on the wiki. It really shouldn't be too much of a problem to get the wiki up and running soon and I'm going to try to do a good bit over the next couple days because I don't have anything going on.

More updates:

Mailserver work progressing. We are going back to using gitea, I will restore what repos I can, and I will add back user accounts as necessary.

Some stuff I do not have cloned locally and will need to be recreated. I'm sorry about this. To reflect a new instance, the subdomain for it will be slightly different.

ETA -- Unknown. Depends on time.

I've done some more work on getting this going but it's still being a pain. Part of it is my lack of motivation, part of it is my frustration with a lack of documentation as I'm starting over essentially on some of it.
