300GB SCSI U320 drives
There are several cheap 300GB SCSI U320 80pin drives on ebay, do these work in SGI's? Specifically Octanes and O2s?

RE: 300GB SCSI U320 drives
I general the answer is 'yes'.

U320 drives do not necessarily work in SCSI-I mode, so e.g. Indy, Indigo or Indigo2.

The worst that can happen is that they are low level formatted to something other than 512 bytes/sector and that they need a low level format. But I've only ever seen this myself with FC disks.

RE: 300GB SCSI U320 drives
I bought a couple of "SEAGATE 300GB 15K.5 80 pin U320 SCSI ST3300655LC" off fleabay - which work great in the Octane, but it looks like they might not be so happy in my Tezro rack :-(

I get machine stalls and high IO wait on the T where I don't see the same with other disks.

Without a compatibility list I guess it's the luck of the draw.

Does the U320 drive require an adapter to fit the 80 pin drive connector?
