RE: How to fit CPU upgrade in O2
Yeah I know, it doesn't really feel that tempting to modify the system to make this happen. The thing is I got that CPU upgrade sort of by mistake. I was bidding on a R5K 300Mhz, but lost, then eBay said they found another, and I put in a bid. I only realized it once I got it in the mail, the form factor was completely different from the one already in my system. Especially after the plastic that the cpu retainer screws broke after I tried to re-install my R5K, I was really careful, but this plastic is really of a crappy quality.
Now if anyone know of where I might source a basic R10k unit I would love to get one, however here in Norway they are quite rare.
So I am waiting on parts, I managed to get a motherboard, motherboard mount, retainer, standoff and PCI bracket from a R10k system, so I am hoping that I may be able to make that work.

Ok so silly question from me...Why not just upgrade the R10k system you got the parts from? Or transfer the skins across if they were broken?

RE: How to fit CPU upgrade in O2
I would if I had the complete system, I only managed to find the parts I listed on eBay. So no skins, no case, no psu, no drive bays and so on. I only have one complete O2, a R12K 300Mhz CPU module, and a motherboard cage with the risers and PCI bracket on the way.

Ah Ok, pity as it would have been so much easier to start with a base R10k system.
Let us know how it goes.
