Non linear video editing applications

RE: Non linear video editing applications
As far as I know PVO is not supported in flame/smoke as capture/record device. DL soft requires digital inputs/outputs for it. It is possible to use PVO to generate rt video preview on tv screen.
But PVO with addition of miranda digital video adapter (i have it, it's connected to camera port of PVO and enables digital out/in) probably would work with smoke/flame. I did not try it because of lack of video source with sdi out.
For me best way was capture from analog sources in mediarecorder, then import it to flame smoke.

walderman / gijoe , Thanks, licence generated works a treat. Alas the restrictions of the 1280x1024 gdm prove too much, so I will have to grab myself a bigger screen for it. I don't think even the hot keys will be of much use, the opening load project screen has all the buttons on top of each other.

Good to know it will work though.

one thing that will always work fine for smoke/flame is taking a video file (I use video's created on my cell phone), use ffmpeg on a x86 system to make series images, then import that into flame/smoke, like such:

Code:
ffmpeg -i  my_video.mp4 -an -r 30 -pix_fmt rgb24 -vcodec sgi rgb/%06d.sgi

RE: Non linear video editing applications
Update.. I have a digital video option board coming in. The personal video sale fell through, basically it didn’t pass testing by the seller. Thank god for honest sellers.

I think I will try flame 2008sp6 and see how that goes.

My attempts with flame 7 and 9.5.14 have been unsuccessful after several attempts to figure out the data files and stuff.

Hopefully the 2008 version will be more strait forward using the kgn available.

can you be more specific with what you mean regarding your failed attempts?  You just can't get the keygen working or something else?

RE: Non linear video editing applications
I am guessing the problem has to do with the version of flame I installed is for “oct” version, however the license manager is looking for “octmx” instead.

I have used the kgn several times and even ran the script that changes my lmhost Id baes on the readme files and still fails to load without the “enter license” dialog box appearing.

I have given up on those versions and I’m now focusing on 2008... getting the stone disk volume going using my 250gig media raid drive (4 drive video raid system).

you need to

Code:
setenv FLEXLM_DIAGNOSTICS 2

then see what license flame is looking for, then keygen the correct Feature

for example, here are a few possible strings for flame 7, 7.6

Code:
#########
#FLAME 7#
#########

FEATURE flame_octmx_r_7 discreet_l 7.999 1-jan-2029 0 CD330108DC2C466F8301 HOSTID=myhost ck=28
FEATURE flame_oct_r_7 discreet_l 7.999 1-jan-2029 0 0CE361C29C1AE088D00E HOSTID=myhost ck=3

###########
#FLAME 7.6#
###########

FEATURE flame76_octmx_r_7 discreet_l 7.999 1-jan-2029 0 FCCF87799E14346A7DB6 HOSTID=myhost ck=50
FEATURE flame76_oct_r_7 discreet_l 7.999 1-jan-2029 0 1CBFD709B86B5984F6A9 HOSTID=myhost ck=100
