Found this, would be great to get an extensive list going of OEM gear that SGI used. Sometimes it is easier to find a part by looking up the OEM part numbers that near impossible SGI parts. I was actually able to find and external CDROM for like 1/4 the price of what a SGI branded bit of kit would cost.

Why would anyone want to buy an HDD of that era though? Honest question.

Tape drives, externals etc. are understandable to a degree.

They might be useful for performance comparisons, or to study technology history.

I agree that otherwise there is no reason to prefer them to more recent, more reliable, compatible drives.

It's not really about the drives, though, thought that putting the info out there might help others scouring for parts. I am using a 15K 300+GB drive with an adaptor.
