Hello out there,

how to setup Xinerama for 2x V8 Gfx Cards ...

There must be a chkconflig flag called xinerama that can be turned on but in my system 6.5.26 there is no.

So am about to update to 6.5.30 but wich package contains this ?

As I remember, xinerama under Irix is not that great and has problems. If you want to use two graphics cards, I think you want to use OpenGL Performer. There was another method as well but it didn't run OpenGL apps on both screens, just one. So Performer is the better method. Recondas wrote this up at length but alas, that was on nekochan.

OpenGL Multipipe ! That's it. Sorry about the brainfart. recondas did a pretty lengthy writeup about setting it up on an O350 but that was then, this is now.

One of them, yeah. Maybe the "special" stuff that's in a semi-hidden directory. Techpubs can tell you where, but have to look in the older section, maybe under the O2000 stuff.

Maybe you are missing some package doing "chkconfig xinerama on" should work. Also if you don't have xinerama 2 servers should start for each card and all should work anyway no window movement between servers of course.

But why would you want to ? The whole point of using Irix is to use SGI stuff. Multipipe is better, it gives you OpenGL across all screens and it's an Irix tool, not something from XFree86 or wherever.

It's knda like people's fascination with rpms and such, like, why ? If you want to use Loonix there's about a thousand distributions out there, don't have to jam that stuff into Irix. What's the point of using something different if the first thing you do is make it the same ?

Finally i found the package and it works perfectly.

Unfortunately hardware acceleration only works on the left display.

Maybe its worth trying out with "omprun" script as written in the User’s Guide- have to test this.
