That's because drivers for it are not included in IRIX.

Hardware support for the first gen Gigabit card ("eg", the one with the heat sinks) is here:

Hardware support for the second gen Gigabit card ("tg") is here:
https://techpubs.jurassic.nl/manuals/hdw.../ch01.html

Both cards are only supported on IP27, IP30 and IP35. Grepping the IDB file of a 6.5.30 overlay's eoe1 subsystem for "if_eg.o" or "if_tg.o" will confirm this.
