Actually no, Jim and Ed Catmull were working together as professors at Stanford when they devised what came to be known as the "Catmull-Clark Subdivision Surface" algorithm. Jim Clark went on to found SGI based on the work he and his students had done developing their geometry engine circuitry, which became the basis for SGI's first workstations. Ed Catmull went on to co-found Pixar. 😁
