How does this compare to Maya 6.5? And as I'm fond of pointing out, Maya 6.5 for Irix is available from my website, with a working license. http://smigt.org/m65

That depends on how you define "pirated," for example in the case of Maya for Irix, you can call Autodesk and ask them to sell it to you, they will not, in fact for the most part their sales reps don't even know what Irix is.
