We are sorely in need of a good music player for the system and I am on board with having a command line one.
This is a free software command line music player and it is quite good in my experience. I would very much like to see this on the system but the biggest issue right now is there is no current sound driver and it obviously doesn't compile with MIPSPro.
This bounty is a little bit different than priorities because besides having objectives it also has a penalty. I'll mention soon what I mean.
The major porting step is going to be writing a dmedia back end. There exists a driver for xmms that I can post to anyone interested because that might provide you with what you need to get started.
The other major requirement here is to get it compiling with MIPSPro c99; none of the libraries required for it actually use c++, so that should not be a problem.
With regards to getting updated libraries this is where I'm going to actually help you. I have some obligations pending with regards to updating nekoware; I would be more than happy to package and provide these if necessary but most of them should compile out of the box with few problems.
Now here comes the penalty:
Penalty of $100 is assessed if the porter gives up on or does not bother with a MIPSPro built
Bonuses:
$50 if you get the maintainers to upstream your code.
Like with most bounties that I post I don't actually have a PayPal account anymore so if you're based in the United States I would prefer to pay you by cash app. If you are not US based then we can do cryptocurrency or transferwise (a Western Union type service)
All other bounty rules apply!
