We're working on smart artillery round technology for both the six inch Zumwalt class destroyers and the five inch Arleigh Burke class destroyers, fingers crossed... 😀

This one? I see that Nissan-Renault is partnering with Geely. /Great/.

I still won't forgive them turning Volvo into a trash brand.

The end game is that none of us peons own any type of powered transportation. We take public transportation or ride our Mao bike, happily wearing our Mao berets with our copy of Mao's "Little Red Book" tucked in our pockets. Meanwhile, the elites will continue flying around the world in their private jets, bitching whining and moaning about how all of the little people are ruining the planet.

I think Ford accomplished that pretty well by 2000 or so...

I don't know what your personal experiences with Volvo are, but anecdotally I had plenty of decent things to say. My aunt had an S40 that went 200k miles without a lot of expensive repairs. I also know many of the smaller volvos shared parts with words and Mazdas. Mazda is one brand I love dearly, daresay more than Toyota or Honda. Absolutely not as good in terms of rust proofing but in terms of styling and performance Mazda is probably better. Also parts are cheaper.

Maybe it's par for the course with modern computerized cars, but I had a lot of experiences with design flaws and substandard quality factory equipment, with multiple cars.
For example, water ingress is a very common problem which is shocking for a car in its price class.
The Volvo bodies were supposed to be galvanized, but after 10 yrs or so you couldn't tell, as much rust as any other car.

I'd chalk that up to American owned cars never really being properly rust treated. Even the South Korean made GMs are made of such a thin gauge of steel they can't stand up to normal rust (personally I don't think making cars is a South Korean strong point... Daewoo + cars = diarrhea from eating gochujang straight)

Japanese cars don't usually have as good of rust proofing as some of the European stuff, either. But Japanese cars do seem to be easier to patch. One trick I found that I used with my colleagues' Nissan Hardbody was we basically just used body seam sealer to install a new patch panel into his floor. It's been 3 years and it hasn't rusted or anything. It doesn't really match the contour of the old floor because we just used a straight piece of metal but it worked pretty well and it's as strong as anything else.

I had to get rid of my 1997 Maxima in the summer of 2018 because it was so rusty and old that I was getting pulled over all the time. The cops figured whoever was at the wheel was some meth head loser. The disappointment in their facial expressions was palpable. 😁

Cop: "Where are you coming from?"

Me: Pointing thumb over my shoulder; "back there."

Cop: "Where are you going?"

Me, Pointing index finger straight ahead; "that way." 😆
