Poly bushings -- do you guys think they don't belong in a daily?
My new to me car has 180k, and unlike my Outback, it has some worn out bushings. I'm not gonna replace all of them, but a lot have to go. I want to get some durable bushings, and while some will likely go rubber, I'm mostly curious what you guys think. I don't get a lot of good answers here.
Some people bitch about squeaks from them being unlubed, others mention vibration/harshness, others love them. I don't know what to believe because I've had mostly used cars that had enough worn out suspension components to not really "tell" the difference.
Some stuff I was possibly thinking, for ref:
Control arm bushings
Differential Bushings
Transmission mount bushing
Steering rack bushings
etc.
Not every bushing on a car, mind you. I'm aware engine mounts that they say poly are too harsh, and I'd agree. I've seen how a solid mount does (some older cars had them).
Are any of these "too much" for a daily? Ideally for the control arm ones I'd add grease fittings, but I dunno -- I may just opt for new control arm assemblies altogether and just use standard rubber bushings.
I just want the ones that are pain in the ass to get to, or that really receive a lot of abuse, to be done so I don't have to do them again.
