August Updates
Hey folks,

So some updates to how we're doing at IRIXNet, and some stuff that is planned.

CB_HK did a motherload of new icons for us. I am in the process of uploading those to the forum server as we speak.

I am still working on the next IRIX Community Edition Patchset and some hotfixes to Xenoware, as the last one I sent out had some issues. It's been difficult to juggle time as I've been working hard at my new job and at my new place (astute people will notice I updated my location, I am in the long term process of saying bye-bye to the Old Dominion and have mostly moved out of the state). I also left a novel on the backburner most of 2021, and I need to desperately resume the editing process for that. It's harder than it sounds!

Some devs have been working closely with me on some cool stuff. I have nothing I can promise, but let me say there's finally some interest towards LLVM. Not by me, and I'll wait until he has something to show for himself. He is being 100% supported by me. Ironically enough, one issue we encountered is that an n32 GCC OOMs while building and linking. So if someone wants to help with an n64 version of GCC (wink wink, maybe the SGUG guys??) then you should absolutely do that. I tried, and crashed and burned due to configure script issues with GCC.

I have a new server for IRIXCE I have been refurbishing and preparing for racking at a DC in Lenoir, NC, about 6-7 hours from me but very economical in terms of racking costs. This will support the IRIXCE and IRIXNet groups equally, mostly in a specific capacity of acting as a fast-SSD system, as it has 100% SSD storage. I will document the setup of that when it comes to fruition.

Another project I'm working on, mostly unrelated to IRIXNet but equally cool, is acquiring a POWER8 system on the cheap. Can't promise that works out, but keep an eye out for "Ghetto8" as I've termed it, ghetto for the non-Americans referring to something haphazardly put together in a stereotypically poor way. Similar in some respects to the Chinese attitude of "Chabuduo" (Oh, close enough! in Chinese).

Say hello to:

Skywriter Origin 200 Prism Desktop Power Series 4D/440 Power Series Rack Tezro Rack Vault L Origin Vault Altix 350 Fuel

Sidenote: Do any of these need to be larger in your view? I have 64x64 and larger icons I could scale down to almost any arbitrary size. I need input!

RE: August Updates
I've also scaled some icons up and removed many of the Pentium icons. I apologize for the inconvenience for those, especially those who are using the stacked ones I removed just now, in signatures, but as we're approaching the end of this, I want to encourage and motivate to move to the new icons. I am grateful that Pentium didn't care we carried those over from nekochan, but as we've come into our own, we're approaching a long overdue time to retire them. The others are being retired soon, a few remain for specific systems (I myself am using the Tezro ones to stand in for the O350 ones), such as yet-to-be done rack units, but those will likely be done soon. CB_HK has been a big help Smile
