O2 display output questions

RE: O2 display output questions
Found the app, it's called mediarecorder.

Here's a screenshot using it:

I'm trying to compile a custom resolution file from this guide using their make file:
http://dart.ncsa.uiuc.edu/slevy/o2-stereo/highres.html

I just tried their demo files with the supplied make file but get an error from the MIPS compiler:

"cannot exec /usr/lib32/cmplrs/fec" as shown in the above screenshot.

RE: O2 display output questions
As you rightly point out that's a compiler problem, what do you get from ls -l /usr/lib32/cmplrs/fec ? Should be something like:

-rwxr-xr-x  1 root sys 3898472 Jan 18  2014 /usr/lib32/cmplrs/fec

Plan: World domination! Or something...

RE: O2 display output questions
Thanks for the help. I managed to figure out what software was missing and installed it. I was able to compile the custom resolution vfo for the 1600sw.

You can download it from here:

RE: O2 display output questions
The vfo file seems to work OK with a Multi-link adapter.

I was wondering if anyone has tried connecting two 1600sw's to an O2?

As I understand there are a few possible options:
1. Flat panel adapter and VGA + ML adapter. However since both use the same frame buffer both monitors will show the same desktop.
2. Dual head card. This supports two 1280x1024 monitors, but I wonder if yo could drive two 1600sw using a ML adapter on each output.
3. Flat panel adapter/VGA port and a RAD4C-KM PCI card. The PCI card has its own frame buffer so this should work. I was told the RAD4C has no acceleration or OpenGL support, so it won't use any of the special O2 hardware, it's just a dumb 2D frame buffer.
4. Any other possibilities I'm not aware of?

RE: O2 display output questions
The DCD on VPro and the dual head adapter for the O2 are not always the right call, for a few reasons:

1. They segment your memory in half for graphics. On the O2, with its VERY limited memory, this can be disastrous.
2. They don't have good compatibility with certain applications, especially legacy ones.
3. They reduce video performance since both framebuffers are driven by the same GPU.

The RAD4C and other PCI cards I don't recommend. At best you'll get an 800x600 unaccelerated desktop that will potentially interfere with your main desktop

If you want dual head, the easiest to do that on is an Indigo2 IMPACT where you can physically put two Solid Impacts into it, or you can get an octane and run two MXE/SE with TRAM boards in it.

Conclusion: Get a different machine if you expect any kind of acceptable performance and/or don't want to track down rare and expensive peripherals.

Thanks for the info Raion. It would be cool to test it out with a dual head adapter, but probably not really worth it. Guess I'll stick to a single 1600sw.

RE: O2 display output questions
I managed to connect my 1600sw to my PC via ML adapter. However there seem to be some streaks going from top right to bottom left. It looks like the scree is dirty. It's easiest to see when the background is white (see images below). Does anyone know what the cause of this is and if it can be fixed. I tried cleaning the screen with a damp cloth, but the dirty streaks seem to come from behind the screen.
