Flash for HP-UX

Flash for HP-UX
So apparently at some point Macromedia apparently released a version of Flash for HP-UX. Here's an old archived article from 2002 announcing the release for HP-UX and here's an old page on Adobe's website still with a link to a download for flash player 6 for Netscape Navigator on HP-UX. Unfortunately the link redirects to a page on HP's site that is now dead. Have any of you guys seen this file before? Apparently it was offered as a free download, so I'd think it would be out there somewhere, but I can't find anything about what it's actually like. It also seems to have existed for 11iv1 on both PA-RISC and IA64.

RE: Flash for HP-UX
I seem to remember something similar... There even was a version of Internet Explorer 4 for HP-UX.
But why in all the world would want this cancer on the internet's scrotum installed on a retro machine?
Not being able to run flash is considered a security feature now. Running any old version of flash should be restricted to a tightly locked down virtual machine that can be restored easily.

No Flash means no Homestar Runner. What kind of lunatic monster doesn't like Homestar Runner?

Right. I didn't know that, sorry. I guess I missed out on a vital part of internet culture.
Being locked into the golden Apple cage, I can't even see it now either, but the description on wikipedia sounds interesting.

But if one has a retro-machine, why not read http://www.userfriendly.org instead?

I mainly want to try it for the hell of it, and also to see if anyone actually has the file because it seems to be somewhat rare

As for internet explorer, it's actually on archive.org under hpunix/Apps/ if you wanted to test it out, along with some Firefox 2.0 stuff as well.

good luck then.

I did that years ago. It was interesting to see a different browser, because Netscape was dominant on Unix machines. The main problem with using old browsers, apart from the security issue, is that they are very bad at displaying the current WWW. I don't think IE 4 will be able to render many modern websites.

I can't find the file, but I have a filename:  flash_hpux_5_0_86r1.depot

It's a firefox plugin.

RE: Flash for HP-UX
Firefox 3.6 is the cross-platform beauty. It's possible to build it with old libraries and doesn't require too much beyond the essentials.
I've managed to run it under old Solaris SPARC (don't recall the version, it was a long time ago) and AIX 4 and 5.3.

But yea, last time I ran it, I barely could see any webpage. Gmail "low bandwidth" mode worked, ars technica was browseable, but CSS went to hell.
