Workgroups don't really come into it. Sounds more like firewall blocking to me. Check Windows 7 and try disabling the firewall for testing. FTP should work fine via IP address - as should Sharity if required. Can you ping the Windows 7 machine from IRIX? Try IP and hostname to see which (if any) work.

OK.. I will try disabling the firewall. I tried pinging my SGI from WIN7 using the Ping command, but all 4 packets were lost meaning no connecting.
