I didn't have a great experience with the Extron device, too much fuzz and the quality of the image in my setup was utter garbage. I use a OSSC and the sharpness is far superior. Granted you're going to pay a little more, but you get what you pay for right.

AFAIK Michalis Pastras makes/used to make custom 13W3-VGA adapters that rerouted SoG.
I got one together with my Octane and I know it works perfectly with a cheapo VGA->HDMI dongle thing.

As CB_HK mentions, the image comes indeed a bit washed out but it was trivial to get it to look excellent by reducing gain and adjusting the gamma curves. I even published a few captures in my youtube channel.

At the end of the day, I ended up purchasing a SoG-compatible 1280x1024 Dell LCD screen and I only use Michalis' dongle when I capture.

And, as always, feel free to correct me if I am speaking stupid.
